24 September, 2020 – One of the largest fishing companies in the world, American Seafoods, has replaced their existing eLearning system with MarineLMS, a leading maritime-specific Learning Management System (LMS), across their fleet of six advanced catcher processors. The implementation, branded as American Seafoods Knowledge Academy (ASKA), has seen success with over 12,000 courses already completed.

“It was imperative that the changeover be seamless and that there would be no interruption to our existing online training procedures. The support team at Marine Learning Systems has helped ensure that,” said Lance Camarena, the Director of Training and Organizational Development at American Seafoods. “It’s been rewarding to see how quickly the entire crew has adopted and embraced this new solution; we’re just beginning to explore all the possibilities for ASKA.”

Marine Learning Systems’ completely configurable training solution allows for online learning on-board American Seafoods vessels in environments, such as the North Pacific Ocean, where an internet connection is not guaranteed. The crew are invited to complete their pre-training at home using a wide array of devices and have access to full LMS functionality while on-the-job on each of their vessels. New courses and updates to the system are automatically synchronized to every vessel, requiring no client administrative support. In addition, American Seafoods now has the flexibility to deliver courses and content from any source, giving their employees all the information they need to do their job.

Murray Goldberg, founder and CEO of Marine Learning Systems, says, “The success at American Seafoods has shown what is possible when you have engaged leadership that has experience, a vision and a plan. Their commitment to training and their employees is a clear example for others to follow and we’re excited to work alongside American Seafoods to help them further optimize the performance and safety of their marine operations.”
